| Rotterdam is dominated by its port, which until recently was the largest in the world. The city has a superb art collection in the Boymans-van Beuningen Museum, including works by Rembrandt and Hieronymus Bosch. Rotterdam's other key attractions are the Euromast, which offers a panoramic view of the port, the Maritiem Museum and Blijdorp zoo. The sprawling port can be seen by taking a boat tour through the dockland complex. Rotterdam's historic centre, destroyed in 1940, was rebuilt in an elegant modern style that was has been widely copied throughout the world. The city has lively art galleries, modern cafés, and jazz bars. |
